Being Faithful in the little

I never thought I would say that I enjoy being faithful in the little. However, I also never knew years ago that Holy Spirit wanted to be something for me in every area and season that He couldn’t be any other time.  He desires to speak to us regardless of where we are or what we are doing.  It’s usually in the little things of life that he transforms our hearts and minds so we can handle with excellence the people and situations He calls us to for the future.  That big job promotion, the position in leadership you’re wanting, the lead part in the play at school, being a great friend, a great servant, a great spouse, and a great parent all have to start somewhere in our character.  Hello!! Welcome to the land of being faithful with the little.

It was a very hot humid day, we had just moved our life across the world, everything was foreign from food to the language to way we slept at night.  My husband and I had come out of working at a church, and felt led to move our lives across the world to help our brother and sister out in Bali, Indonesia. I had just gotten a little bit used to being a new mommy with a one year old little girl.  And all the “normal” western life conveniences and cultural norms were far from reach and I was faced with…life, a different life but…life.  It was in this place that Holy Spirit started to mold this concept of faithfulness in my heart.

It’s usually in the little things of life that he transforms our hearts and minds so we can handle with excellence the people and situations He calls us to for the future.

Everywhere we go in life there will always be the things that are annoying to do.  You know the tasks that need to be done that you don’t want to do all the time. I call these the “mundanes of life”. We all have them, though some may be similar or the role looks different, we all have the Mundanes of life.  And it was in Bali that I realized I didn’t want to run from these, I just wanted to do them with excellence because that is truly where our character and grit is formed.  There are many times I have heard people say… “ I’m just a stay at home Mom”, or “I’m just a receptionist” or “I’m just a builder” or you put it there “I’m just a _______”, and truly “just” is a way of saying it’s not significant.  OH!!! But it is so significant to carry ourselves with honor and purpose no matter the task.  Everything I do is worship to the Lord and that means that everything I do He loves to do with me.  And I would venture to say that because you do these things so often and so much that perhaps they are the most important?

Being Faithful with the LITTLES…

This particular season of my life I wear many hats, but the one that is the most time consuming and relentless is Motherhood.  I have such a great opportunity to be faithful with these three little gifts given to me, and yet sometimes I lose sight of how great an opportunity it is to choose love, patience, self control, kindness, understanding, and really every good thing  in the moment because it’s day in and day out. I could get caught up thinking I am not doing anything significant but that is really a lie far from the truth.  It is here in this season of life that I am sowing seeds to reap great  fruit for the future. Therefore, to do this “small” thing well, the everyday mundane is truly the beauty of living well.  It’s in these everyday moments I find out who I am and what triggers I have and how I need to deal with these. But mostly how often I have the opportunity to choose excellence and invite Holy Spirit to transform my life through love and excellence in doing the little things faithfully!!!

It is here in this season of life that I am sowing seeds to reap great fruit for the future.

I bless you to see the mundanes in life as seeds to help you become the person you need to be for the dream in your heart. These seeds will truly leave a legacy and impact the world by your excellence in the mundane!

How will we ever be trusted with more if we cannot be faithful with what we’ve already been given?

You have what it takes, through our Faithful God, to live faithful with the little!

From glory to glory,

Kristy
